Global Chess League 2026: Magnus Carlsen Returns as Bengaluru Hosts Season 4

The chess world is getting ready for another exciting edition of the Tech Mahindra Global Chess League, with Season 4 set to begin on September 5, 2026, in Bengaluru, India.

The nine-day competition will bring together six franchise teams and some of the biggest names in international chess. The event will run until September 13 and will feature a fast-paced team format designed to bring a new level of excitement to professional chess.

Magnus Carlsen Returns to the Global Chess League

One of the biggest attractions this season is the return of Magnus Carlsen. The former world champion will represent the Alpine SG Pipers, who will be looking to defend their title.

Bengaluru Becomes the Centre of World Chess

After previous seasons in Dubai, London and Mumbai, the Global Chess League returns to India for a second consecutive season.

Bengaluru will host the competition from September 5 to September 13, giving Indian chess fans another opportunity to watch some of the world's strongest players compete in a unique team-based format.
