Common questions, answered.

Do I need an account to play?

No — local pass-and-play and games against the engine work without signing in. You only need an account for live multiplayer, since ratings and history are tied to it.

How does matchmaking work?

Quick Match pairs you with the closest-rated opponent available in your chosen time control. If no close match is available right away, the acceptable rating gap widens the longer you wait, so you're never stuck in the queue indefinitely.

How are ratings calculated?

We use a standard Elo rating system. Beating a higher-rated opponent gains you more points than beating a lower-rated one, and vice versa for losses. Games against the engine are unrated.

I got disconnected mid-game — is it lost?

No. Reload the page (or reopen the game link) and it will reconnect and resync the current position, clocks, and move history automatically.

Can I change my username or delete my account?

Not yet through the site itself — email support@skyboundchess.com and we'll take care of it.
