Privacy Policy

This page describes what information Skybound Chess collects, why, and how it's kept. We only collect what's needed to run the Service.

What we collect

• Account info: the email and username you sign up with, and your password — stored as a salted hash, never in plain text.
• Game data: the moves, results, time controls, and ratings of games you play online, so history and matchmaking work.
• Basic technical data: standard server request logs (e.g. for debugging and abuse prevention).

We don't collect payment information — the Service is free.

Cookies and local storage

We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in (an httpOnly authentication token) — it's required for the Service to work and isn't used for tracking or advertising. We also use your browser's local storage for small preferences, like remembering your cookie choice. If you accept analytics in the cookie banner, we load Google Analytics to understand traffic and page usage — it doesn't run otherwise. We also run Google AdSense to show ads, which loads on every page and may set its own cookies for ad measurement and personalization; unlike analytics, it isn't gated by the cookie banner. How we use it

To run your account, keep you signed in, validate and store your games, calculate ratings, and match you with opponents. We don't sell your data or share it with third parties for marketing.

Your rights

You can ask us what data we hold about you, correct it, or have your account deleted at any time — email support@skyboundchess.com.

Children

The Service isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from children under that age.

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
